We are NW Early Elementary

Northwest Early Elementary School serves 854 students, grades K-2, and has an average daily attendance of 97%. Learning opportunities in language arts, math, science, health, social studies, physical education and music are provided. Our staff works consistently as a team to improve methods of teaching, as well as increase the appreciation and love of learning in our students. The instructional staff includes 35 full time classroom teachers which provide an environment that is conducive to learning.  We also have instructors for music, art, physical education, health, and a full-time Guidance Counselor. Students receive Title I support services from an instructional support team composed of three learning specialists and four paraprofessionals. The background and experience of the staff allow the opportunity for students to be exposed to an array of experiences. All instructional staff members have a master’s degree, a certificate endorsement, or other special training in early childhood beyond their bachelor’s degree.

Letter from NWEE Administration:

Hello, Northwest Early Elementary!

We would like to welcome you to the 2024-2025 School Year, returning families and new families alike. We hope you had a wonderful summer and look forward to meeting you soon. Please take note of some key dates (listed below) where you will be able to come to school and meet with some of our staff members. We are currently still actively looking for lunch and recess supervisors, so please share widely amongst your connections to recruit the best personnel for NWEE.

Some of you who have been to our campus this summer would have seen the sign for the 2023 Bond at the front of the building. We are excited that construction is currently underway for the additional classrooms in our expansion plan. Please note that the construction will not affect our existing building operations. You can also find more information on this site. 2023 Bond Proposal - Northwest Community Schools (nwschools.org)

To our incoming Young Five and Kindergarten Families, please be aware that you will have a series of opportunities to meet the teachers and staff. Please pay close attention to the dates and times of Open House and Orientation for your specific grade levels. *IMPORTANT* For Orientation Day, you are expected to bring your students to school that day and stay with them through your assigned timeslots (details will be released by August 16, 2024). Transportation for Young Five and Kindergarten students will not be provided until August 22, 2024.

Finally, this coming school year, we are intent on increasing family engagement at NWEE. Research confirms that a high level of involvement with the school can only be beneficial to the students. In a positive and collaborative effort, together, we build a community that supports our students in "The Direction of Greatness". One effective way for families to do this is to ensure your students are in school to learn every day. By closely monitoring their attendance, you can help minimize loss in instructional opportunities. Remember... our goal in all of Mountie Nation is “Miss 9 Days or Less, for Mountie Success!”

We look forward to seeing you soon. Go Mounties!

In partnership,

Principal, Dr. Cherlyn Hardwick

Assistant Principal, Mrs. Paula Louagie (Young Five and Kindergarten)

Assistant Principal, Mr. James Laughlin (1st Grade and 2nd Grade)
